A pastor in his 40s is reportedly battling for his life at the hospital, after gunmen invaded his church and asked him to say his last prayer before shooting him at close range.
The sad incident occurred at Yawkrom, near Manso Nkwanta in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, according to Dailyguidenetwork.com.
The pastor, Isaac Opoku, who heads End Time Evangelical Ministry at Yawkrom, was shot by the assailants when he was preparing for a church service.
According to the report, the assailants entered the church premises under the guise of seeing the pastor for counselling and were allowed to proceed.
After entering, they walked directly to the man of God and asked whether he was Isaac Opoku, which he confirmed. He was then asked to say his last prayer before he is shot, according to an informant, Kaayire Amoako alias Opanyin.
He added that the man of God being in state of shock, obliged by bowing his head and muttering some words. As soon as he raised his head, one of the gun-wielding men shot him in the chest, while the other armed man stood outside to survey the area as the operation went on. They then fled into a nearby bush and disappeared.
The victim is currently on admission at the St. Martins Hospital at Agroyesum where he is receiving treatment.
However, members of the End Time Evangelical Ministry noted that they were taken aback by the incident, saying their pastor is “too humble and quiet to warrant the attack inflicted on him.”
Meanwhile, a complaint has been lodged with the Manso Nkwanta District Police Command and an official statement has been taken from the victim for purposes of investigation.
