Founder of The Maker’s House Chapel International, Dr. Michael Boadi Nyamekye, says it is unwise for employees to use their productive hours for religious activities.
While emphasising the importance of building one’s faith through prayer, Dr. Boadi Nyamekye urged Christians to make their time at work more productive rather than using it to pray.
He made the statement on Sunday, April 13, 2025, during a sermon titled “Wisdom of Wealth Creation”, which is part of his teaching series on the need to understand God’s wisdom in our daily lives.
“The time for work is supposed to be used for work. Don’t use work time to pray. Working diligently for eight hours is not a disservice to God,” he told the congregation.
However, he advised that those who still wish to pray during work hours should do so during their break time, not when they are expected to be working.
“If you have break time and you use it to pray, God bless you… But do not use your eight hours to pray because after those eight hours, you have 16 hours [which you can use to pray],” he counseled.
The preacher, who is also a well-established businessman and scholar, said people can only appreciate the need to properly utilise available opportunities to create wealth when they understand the mind of God.
According to him, “God has already laid down the principles of wealth… but it is what is in your hands that will bring prosperity to pass.”
“The prosperity that God wants you to have is to articulate the mind of God,” he added.
