The Catholic Church in Cameroon has warned pilgrims about fraudsters selling counterfeit tickets for Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming visit to Africa.
Pilgrims from Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad, and the Central African Republic are reportedly falling prey to these scams.
According to a report from DW Africa, Pope Leo is scheduled for a 10‑day apostolic journey from April 13 – 23, with stops in Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.
Church authorities emphasize that all services and ceremonies involving the pope during his visit are completely free and open to the public.
During his stop in Cameroon on April 15, Pope Leo XIV is expected to meet with local communities, prisoners, and healthcare workers, highlighting the spiritual and social outreach of the papal visit.
