The founder of Life Assembly Worship Centre, Christian Kwabena Andrew, has said fasting is irrelevant in the lives of Christians.
Osofo Kyiri Abosom, as he is widely known, explained his stance using the analogy that a parent would not be pleased to see his or her child starve or experience excruciating pains before the child’s needs are met.
As such, it would be inappropriate for a pastor to for instance, recommend fasting for someone seeking healing from a disease the person is battling.
He alluded to King Hezekiah’s prayers in 2 Kings 20:1-10 arguing that when the leader of the Israelites was informed of his death he “did not spend more than a minute in praying” and after, he wept and it was over with.
Likewise, the sick person would not have to fast to receive his or her healing, but just pray to God.
Osofo Kyiri Abosom made the claim on Angel FM’s ‘Y’adwuma nie’ programme, when he sat in for the host Ohemaa Woyeje on Thursday November 18, 2021.
His position became evidently contradictory to what some people of the faith hold, when listeners of the show during the phone-in segment, called to express their views.
Though the callers based their arguments on scriptures in contrast to his shared thought, the Pastor maintained that fasting is not important.
