Jesus is not coming back; pray in the name of the Holy Spirit – Osofo Kyiri Abosom

Christian sect leader, Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has again made a controversial statement when he encouraged people to pray in the name of the Holy Spirit instead of Jesus Christ’s.

According to the Life Assembly Worship Centre founder, Jesus has fulfilled the purpose He was sent into the world for, hence He is never returning because He has nothing more to do with the world.

Moreover, the Christ having left the world, another has come to take His place in the person of the Holy Spirit.

He alluded to John 16:7 which reads in part “…It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you…” (New King James Version).

Osofo Kyiri Abosom added in the Twi parlance: “Let us understand that Jesus is not coming back. He [Jesus Christ] has finished his work.”

In light of this, he urged people of the faith to desist from calling on the name “Jesus Christ” and focus on the Holy Spirit because praying through Christ is wrong.

Making reference to John 16:13, he quizzed in Twi: “Why not call on the One [Holy Spirit] living with us now and pray to Him rather than the One [Jesus Christ] who has finished his work and left? Why not focus on what the Spirit will tell us and reveal to us?”

John 16:13 reads: “However when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (New King James Version).

He proposed this on Angel FM’s Y’adwumanie show on Thursday November 18, 2021 when he sat in for Ohemaa Woyeje as the host.

It was the same platform on which he said fasting was irrelevant in the life of Christians, because apparently God would not want His children to starve and suffer pains before He meets their needs.

His comments were in reaction to the belief some Christians have that Christ will return to take them into His abode.

Their belief stems from John 14:2-3 where Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for His people and will be back for them.

Verse 2 reads: “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Verse 3 says: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

In his response however, the pastor said there is already a place prepared, and that it is the “godly attitude of the believer that will take him into that place, but not Christ coming back into the World to take them.”

Meanwhile reaction from his listeners on his comments were not different from how they responded to his position on fasting.
