Court issues warrant for arrest of leaders of Christian Divine Church

The Tarkwa Circuit Court in the Western Region, has issued warrant for the arrest of Apostle Ebenezer Boahene, the chairman of the Christian Devine Church (CDC) and Pastor Samuel Awuah, Acting General Secretary, for failing to appear before the court.

The two, who are being charged for non-payment of SSNIT sent someone to represent them in court on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, for the hearing to continue.

The presiding Judge, Mrs Hettie Ama Manu, however, said criminal cases are personal and therefore, the accused persons were expected to be in court.

The Prosecutor, Mr Emmanuel Awuah, told the court that the second accused person was in his office yesterday.

Apostle Ebenezer Boahene and Pastor Samuel Awuahare facing prosecution for failing to pay Social Security Contributions for their workers contrary to Sections 83 (1)(d) (h) of the National Pensions Act, 2008 (ACT 766) as amended by section 7 of the National Pensions Act(Amendment) Act 2014 (Act 883).

According to the charge sheet, between the period(s) November 2021 and March 2023 at Tarkwa, the CDC failed to pay the social security contributions of its employees to the sum of GHS 92,975.96.

This it noted, constitutes an offence under the above-mentioned provisions of the Constitution.
