Pastor who joined #FixTheCountry protest may lose affiliation with church

Evangelical Methodist Church International has distanced itself from comments made by its head Pastor for the Asylum Down branch in Accra, Apostle Daniel Adjei at the immediate past #FixTheCountry# protest.

It is recalled that on Wednesday August 4, 2021, the Asylum Down based Head Pastor publicly told journalists during the #FixTheCountry# demonstration that members of his congregation are into hardship hence unable to pay offerings and tithes effectively.

Following this, leaders of Evangelical Methodist Church International say they do not condone nor represent the unfortunate comment passed by its Pastor.

In a statement sighted by faithnewsgh.com as signed by its administrator, Samuel Ampadu over the weekend reads;

“The Evangelical Methodist Mission wishes to make this public announcement and to all concerned regarding the public utterances of Apostle Adjei during the recent ‘#FixTheCountry’ demonstration on 4th August, 2021.

“His public utterances do not represent the position of Evangelical Methodist (Mission) Church, ” the statement noted.

The church, however, added that being a Christian foundation for the gospel it only campaigns for change of mind through education and not public demonstration.

It also indicated that the former’s affiliation with the church has now been left under review due to his loose utterances.

It further stressed “the finances of the mission does not rely on tithes and offerings.
